Okay. Sea Olympics. Let me just sum up how well my team did with a direct quote from a teammate:
Were not even good at losing. Second-best losers. Is this a joke?
Needless to say the Baltic Sea Ninjasdid not win the Sea Olympics and therefore I will not be getting off the boat first on May 6, the culmination of my voyage.
Despite my teams suckiness, I still had a very enjoyable day. I skipped breakfast and slept in until 9:30, which was very nice. Then at 10 I participated in the Olympic Relay. The events in the relay were: Firemens Drill, Orange Pass (passing an orange from one persons neck to anothers), three-legged race, and wheelbarrow race. Me and this guy Matt? Eric? John? I forgot his name, but we were partners for the wheelbarrow contest. I was the wheelbarrow, he was the wheeler. We dominated. However, it didnt matter because my team did horribly in all the other events in the relay.
Other events going on throughout the day were: Volleyball, Poker, Pictionary, Photo Scavenger Hunt, Spelling Bee, Tug-O-War, Workout Relay (chin-ups, pushups, sit-ups, and wall-sit), Mashed Potato-Sculpting Contest, Paper-boat Floating Contest, Flip Cup (with water), Dodgeball, and the Big Finale: Synchronized Swimming.
The Work Out Relay was probably the most entertaining thing to watch. There are some very athletically inclined people on this ship. Girls and guys. The pull-ups
good God. Les McCabe, our dean, beat out like four 20-year-olds at pull-ups. Crazy. I dont think I can do one pull-up.
Another highlight
.actually a lowlight, was when the guy selected to be our speller for the Spelling Bee got out in the first round on Celery. He goes, Celery, C-E-L-L-E-R-I-E. Kendra and I died. Kendra was very upset that she was not our spelling representative because spelling is her forte.
Also they served fries for lunch. Always a hit, as Ive said before. I had to be the greedy bitch that took a whole plate of fries. But they werent all for me. I promise.
The only other event I participated in was Synchro, which was at four, so I had a lot of free time to become Coco. About a half hour before the Big Finale, my Synchro team got together and practicedour routine. We were winging a lot of it, but it was really fun. I loved watching all of the routines. Great music selections. My favorite was probably Wins routine just because of Win. He was so into it and he was mouthing the words to all the songs really animatedly. Hilarious. I complimented his lip-syncing skills after the performance and he was like, What are you talking about? I guess he didnt realize he was doing that.
After synchro I showered, ate dinner, and then the Closing Ceremonies were at 8. The Adriatic Sea won. They dominated in pretty much everything. I guess their team was stacked
and theyre all on steroids. Im not bitter though. Not at all.
Once the Closing Ceremonies concluded Jill, Kendra, Braxton, Lexi, Doug, and I played Balderdash. It was a pretty long and slow-moving game because no one except Jill knew how to play. It was quite a laugh though. Many new jokes have been formed from that rousing round of Balderdash.
Nothing too entertaining has happened since. Ive just been painting, running, lying out, doing an econ problem here and there.
We arrive in India in three days. I am excited and nervous about India. We have been learning about the Indian history in Global Studies. I know so little about the conflicting background of India. It is a pretty sad history. I do like, however, the Baliwood Indian music videos they play before class starts. I love Indian music. And dance. I will be incorporating those moves at all the clubs I go to from now on.
I cant think of any noteworthy things.
Until next time,
H
