The Indian Ocean has by far been my favorite ocean that weve sailed on. It is beautiful. The water is so glassy and calm. Sometimes it is so smooth it looks fake. AND Ive seen dolphins twice now. DOLPHIN SPOTTING. Very exciting. I saw them yesterday at dinner and today while I was working out. Finally marine life. Apparently they are dwarf spinner dolphins. They were jumping and frolicking alongside the ship. A whole
.school
of them. Is it school? Pack? Herd? I think its school.
Also the weather has been gorgeous on this ocean. It is hot hot hot and sunny. At night its a little humid, but they keep the inside of the ship like an ice box so its kind of refreshing. It rained the other night. Jill and I sat in it. It was warm rain. It felt great, until it started whipping us in the face because it got so windy. We were drenched. We got weird looks and people were like Why didnt you just come inside when it started raining? Because we didnt want to, DUH! Later on that night, my room was lit up with lightening. Kendra and I were both fascinated and we knelt on our beds, looking out our little porthole, watching the lightening light up the ocean.
Tomorrow=India. To be honest, I dont think Im prepared for what I will see there. My art teacher told my class about some of the travesties she has witnessed and experienced in India. Everyone got a bit freaked out. And I also think everyone will be scared by whatever they have to tell us at the logistical pre-port tonight. Reality check,as my Dr. Schoenherr, my Global Studies teacher says. It is going to be one huge reality check. I need it, though. Itll be good. But I am definitely a bit anxious.
I think I might try and paint the sunset we saw last night now. It was beautiful. I hope I can recreate it. Ive never been especially skilled with colors. Well see.
Namaste.
Be careful. Stick together. Don't take any wooden nickels. Practice modesty and prudence. Don't do your Indian voice imitations. Do mine.
